Promise Egele, with over 40 years’ experience started his career with the Shell Group in Nigeria as a junior Geophysicist / Seismologist. With a career spanning more than 27 years at Shell Group, he served as Head of Evaluation (Chief Geologist), Exploration Manager, and Petroleum Engineering Manager. While he held these positions, he was responsible for the discovery, development and optimization of a number of major oil and gas reserves in Nigeria and The Netherlands.
As a successful sub-surface evaluator at Shell Nigeria, Promise made significant contributions to Shell Group’s reserves growth through successive discoveries like the Awoba Field and the HB Offshore Field discoveries to mention a few. He has also led exploration projects throughout Sub-Sahara Africa (Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Angola, and Namibia) and Mauritania for the Shell Group.
He retired from Shell in May, 2007 and joined the Uquo team as the Development Director responsible for sub-surface development of the Uquo Marginal Field.
Promise Egele, a graduate of Geology from the University of Ibadan, is a well-known industry expert on the geology of the Niger-Delta, as well as a Fellow and past President of the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) amongst other international and local exploration societies.
